MISCELLANEOUS

Q: When will the game schedules be posted?
A: When we complete them, upload them to the system, and make them public.  The schedules for T-ball through Majors usually become available sometime in mid April.  Juniors schedules follow sometime around the first week of May.  And the seniors schedule usually become available in mid-May.

Q: Why do the schedules come out when they do?
We can't begin to work on a schedule until we know what fields will be available and when those fields will be available to us.  Once the fields are in order, then we have to work with other league schedulers to work out the interleague play.  If they don't have their information in order, then it delays the schedule.  We also then have to take into account how many teams we have and at what divisions, the size of the fields that are required for each division, then factor in LL restrictions and requirements for divisions and allstar teams.  Beyond that we must factor in coaching availability, field condition and maintenance.  And finally we're ready to think about building a schedule.  It isn't easy, I promise you.  For the higher level leagues, the schedules come out later because their season begins a bit later.

Q: Why can't my child play on the same team as their friend?
A: During the sign-up process, we give you an opportunity to make such requests. However, there is no guarantee that such requests can be accommodated.   Unfortunatley with the volume of requests and the complexities of scheduling almonst 1000 players and volunteers, most of these requests cannot be fulfilled.  We do the best we can given volunteer and field availability, but there are many other factors that dictate the schedule and the building of teams.

Q: Do the board members get preferential treatment with respect to team practice/game schedules and team picture times?

Most of us, no.  The boardmember who builds the schedule probably does because he does the work.

Q: Is being on the board is a lot of work?

For most board members, this is absolutely true 100% of the time.  The board members donate a lot of time to the parents and players of RLL.  Our new website is helping to cutdown the amount of work we have to do.

Q: Why are kids under the age of 5 not allowed to play in RLL?
A: As a charter member of Little League International, we must work according to their rules.  The LL insurance program does not cover players that are not of the LL age of 5.

Q: Why can't my child play in the RLL if we live outside the RLL boundry?
A: As a charter member of Little League International, we must work according to their rules.  If you live outside our boundry, the proper thing to do is contact the Little League Charter whose boundry you do live within.  You, however, may apply for a waiver in special circumstances.  If you wish to do so, please contact the RLL president, Warren Lanphear.

Q: Why can't my child play on the Allstar team with their friends?
A: The Rockford Little League is comprised of two LL charters -- the american league and the national league.  This allows us to field more than one Allstar team.  Each of our regular season teams is part of either the american league or national league.  Players from the american league can only be named to the american league Allstar team and players from the national league can only be named to the national league Allstar team.  Hence, there is a chance your child may be named to a different Allstar team than their friends.

Q: What does 50/70 mean?
A: The 50/70 refers to the pitching distance (50 feet) and the distance between the bases (70 feet).  Little League has now made 50/70 (now called Intermediate division) a new division for baseball in the 2013 and subsequent seasons.

Q: Is there a family maximum?
A: As of the 2014 season, no.

Q: How are siblings in the same division handled?
A: Siblings are usually placed on the same team (assuming they meet the Little League age requirements for the division) unless RLL is instucted to do otherwise by the parents/guardians.  If your siblings are not on the same team and should be, please contact   as soon as possible.?

VOLUNTEERS

Q. How do I register to be a volunteer?
A. Click the registration tab in the top menu of the website.  Scroll down to the  RLL Volunteer Registration/Background Check Application and click begin registration.

Q. I've volunteered before - is my information already in the system?
A. It should be.  If you coached or had a child in RLL in recent years most of your registration information will already be uploaded to the website.

If you provided multiple email addresses to RLL, any of them will work.  If the email address you provided is no longer valid please send an email to   and we can update your account with your new email address.

If you believe your email address is correct but you do new receive a temporary password send an email to  .

Q. Should I check that the information from last year is correct?
A. Yes, once you log into your existing account please take a minute to verify your information is correct.  Also please considering adding any new information that we did not have in the past (e.g. cell phone or alternate email addresses).

Q. What if I am new to RLL?
A. Select the "Register" button on the Volunteer Registration and follow the instructions listed for New Users.  Within a few minutes you will get a temporary password.  Once you log in, it will bring up a data entry form that says "Participant Information."  THIS IS YOU!  When you register your children later, you can add your spouse and children to your account, if necessary.

Q. Why do I need to fill an application out every year?
A. There are several reasons.  First and foremost, we are required to do a yearly background check on every volunteer and we need your permission to do this.  Also, we need to know what volunteer positions you are interested in for this season.

Q. Why do you need a copy of my driver's license?
A. We are required by Little League to do nationwide background checks on all volunteers with access to the players.  Lexis Nexis (our background check organization) requires that we verify your name and address with a picture ID.  Also, there may possibly be a person with the same name as you that is flagged as an offender, possibly even in another state.  Your ID will allow RLL to verify that you are not the person by comparing pictures and birth date.

Q. What if I forget my password?
A. Simply type in your email address and the system will send you an email with the option of resetting your password.

Q. What if I don't have an email address?
A. Many people use their work email as they check this one more often.  If you don't have any email, consider using a family members.
